What’s new in Jurika

Everything that has changed, month by month — improved every month, much of it from what judges and organisers tell us through the Feedback button.

October 2026

55 changes

For organisers

  • Practice competitions: rehearse the whole flow safely — every email goes only to your own test inbox
  • Test judges in a practice sign in with one-time links (no passwords) and can be reset
  • Practice documents carry a "PRACTICE – not valid" watermark and never count in stats or your competition limit
  • An admin can switch a competition between Real and Practice, with a preview of the impact and a recorded history
  • Choose when an excluded team is told: email them now, or tell them yourself first and send the notice later
  • Each entry records how, by whom and when consent was given — shown on the entry and in the CSV export
  • Judge and participant certificates can carry a verification QR, with its own size control for the code text
  • The QR in the certificate designer now matches its printed size and position
  • Certificate text lines up neatly to the longest real name, and the 8 MB upload limit is shown before you upload
  • The release panel shows exactly how many judges a click will email, and explains when the number is zero
  • Tick "Given out another way" so judges know you hand out letters or certificates yourself
  • Judges can ask you for a missing letter or certificate; you get one summary email a day, around 8 PM
  • Download or email a judge their letter or certificate as a PDF when they can't get it themselves
  • A plain-language "How we handle your data" promise, in English and Bahasa Melayu
  • Competitions inside an event now appear on your dashboard, and event sort settings save as you go
  • Judge requirements are no longer wiped when you re-broadcast a recruitment call
  • Events and competitions need a date before they can open
  • Edit your organisation name; dashboard entry and judge counts are consistent everywhere
  • Locking scores with unscored teams or undecided flags needs a recorded reason
  • Face-to-face: judging can't start while a team has no table, and judges are kept away from their own school's teams
  • A judge who withdrew can Undo within 10 minutes, or ask to rejoin — you decide, with at most one email a day
  • Replacement judges are named by exact email and only join after confirming for themselves
  • Every organiser now has a password, with a clearer sign-in page and "Forgot password?" by email

For judges

  • A new Documents tab: each competition's appointment letter and certificate in one place
  • Jurika issues a verifiable Confirmation of Judge Appointment and a Record of Judging Service, in English or Bahasa Melayu
  • Every Jurika document and judge certificate has a QR and a code anyone can check on a public verification page
  • Download problems now show a plain-English reason instead of an error page
  • A simpler Competitions page — Current, Open to join and History — with events merged in
  • Every competition card has the same View or Score button, and finished results leave the dashboard after 30 days
  • The dashboard opens on Invited when an invitation is waiting; withdrawn invitations stay visible with a way back
  • No more "Submit final scores": once every team is scored you're done and credited automatically
  • Standby judges tap "I'm available today" to check in, and still earn a certificate
  • Scoring saves are more reliable: a refused save explains why, offline marks stay on your device, unscorable teams are skipped
  • Suspended judges can still sign in to download their documents
  • Clearer reassignment, stand-in and missed-deadline emails, with a no-penalty hand-back option
  • Inactive judges no longer get deadline reminders or Reliability penalties
  • Rescue offers at the deadline are opt-in and shared fairly among judges who finished on time
  • Judges who haven't confirmed yet see "Please confirm to take part" instead of a scoring prompt
  • Every judge now has a password, with a new sign-in page, "Forgot password?" and an email when it changes

For teams and entrants

  • All entrant pages and emails in English and Bahasa Melayu
  • Excluded or absent teams are told on their status page and by email — the reason only if the organiser chose to share it
  • Under-18 members can be edited with guardian consent, and members without an email are kept
  • Certificates skip rejected and absent teams, and can carry a QR that proves they're genuine
  • Practice competitions show a clear TEST banner, so no one mistakes them for a real one

For everyone

  • A public page to verify any Jurika document or certificate, in English and Bahasa Melayu
  • This What's new page, and a My feedback page where judges and organisers see our replies
  • Feedback gets a reply by email when we answer it or finish it
  • The home page shows the whole judging journey and our promises
  • Updated privacy notice (feedback, short surveys, AI-assisted reading of feedback, the Reliability record)
  • Sign-in links stop working after an email change or password reset, and can't be used from another website
  • Passwords must be at least 10 characters; common ones are refused
  • Organisers can no longer add a judge to a panel without that judge's own consent
  • Uploaded images are checked more strictly, and sign-in emails are protected against abuse
  • Removing someone's data on request is more complete — consent records, certificate codes and feedback included
  • Outside monitors now alert us if the site, its background jobs, backups or email stop working

September 2026

29 changes

For organisers

  • Check conflicts of interest on one page: judges' and teams' organisations grouped, merged and sortable
  • The conflict-of-interest check works for standalone competitions as well as events
  • Judges with a conflict of interest can't be assigned to those teams
  • Teams can record their state and country, so organisations with several campuses are told apart
  • A warning when the same person is listed in more than one team
  • Sheet syncs show a "review before adding" preview, a banner of changes, and the rows that were skipped
  • The contact person on new teams is a tap-to-chat WhatsApp link
  • Events sort judges by their actual workload, with clear and preview options on each competition's sort page
  • Face-to-face groups keep judges from the same school apart where possible
  • Mark an invited pool judge as accepted, or re-invite a judge who withdrew

  • An event's type shows as Online, Face-to-face or Mixed, from the competitions inside it
  • A new appointment-letter editor with real formatting and clean pasting from Word
  • Letters print exactly as previewed — letterhead on every page — and the signature can be dragged into place
  • Email judges their letter and certificate, and release certificates when you're ready
  • Open your competition's Google Drive files folder, read-only, from the competition page
  • A competition can only be deleted while it's in draft or recruiting, and finished ones keep their judges' records

For judges

  • A Joined tab on the dashboard lists the competitions you've joined
  • Event invitations appear on the dashboard (accepting needs a complete profile)
  • Give a reason when you withdraw from an event
  • Keep read-only access to your history, certificate and letter even if a competition is archived or deleted
  • Your appointment letter and certificate can be emailed to you

For teams and entrants

  • The privacy notice lists the team location details collected, in English and Bahasa Melayu

For everyone

  • Public pages are easier to find in search engines, with proper link-preview images
  • Private pages and practice competitions stay out of search engines
  • Stronger protection against fake emails pretending to be from our domain
  • Letter generation is hardened against abuse
  • Better contrast and form labels across the site, to the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard
  • Email sending recovers better when the mail service has trouble

  • Accept an offer on a judge's behalf, or send the team back to its original judge
  • Assign a stranded team from a recommended-judge list with WhatsApp links; judges who already declined are listed last
